Double clicking on a model should drill the selection into it

  1. insert character model
  2. click it once to select it
  3. double clicking the head should select just the head (or SHIFT+click if that makes more sense)

This would save me so much time.

Might be a silly question but are you aware of Alt+Click which selects a child of a model?

Alt+Click has its limits. As far as I know, you need to select the model and then Alt+Click the part you want to select. It’s more intuitive to just double-click.

Nope! You can select the child of a model you don’t have selected, this video demonstrates that!
