✨ Roblox Assistant Kills Studio 🪦

Sometimes, I will notice Roblox Assistant opening a window. It distracts me, so I click X to turn it off… then it kills my entire Studio.
I basically have to save everything to Roblox now, because if I keep it on File I risk losing a lot of progress from this bug.
Now obviously, I could avoid this by not clicking the X… Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with ADHD so that’s not likely.

Roblox Assistant needs to be less intrusive when scripting, there is already one button in a decent location to open it for all use cases. Having 3 more seems somewhat unnecessary…
One in the toolbar (just opens it, least obtrusive),
one in the context menu (unique interaction, less obtrusive),
one right next to my highlight (this already exists in the toolbar, more obtrusive) (just found out this can be disabled),
and another one right next to that (this already exists in the context menu, as obtrusive as it gets) (just found out this can be disabled).

Expected behavior

Closing Roblox Assistant should close the window and not instantly crash Studio (it doesn’t even enter Not Responding, it just dies instantly).

not to mention one of the buttons doesn’t even work (at least not for me)

Hi @MinerB4, sorry for the inconvenience. When you have a moment, could you please DM me the Studio log so we can look into the crash? Thank you!

Hi @Microwave_Toothpaste would you share video or screenshot about which button doesn’t work? Thank you!

“Ask Assistant” sometimes does not open the Assistant window. It’s intermittent when it doesn’t. Appears to be working today, but I have no way of knowing if it will work tomorrow or the day after.

I also expect it to insert the selected code into the prompt, but that’s different and not a real problem, just a UX complaint.

This might be because the Assistant widget is docked in Studio. Could you check whether the Assistant button in the banner is checked? If it is, try unchecking it and then click the ‘Ask Assistant’ button again. That said, I agree—we should always bring the Assistant widget to the front, regardless of whether it’s docked or not.

Assistant always opens on my second monitor, even when Studio is open on my first. So, it’s definitely not docked. Like I said, it’s working today, but some days it just doesn’t. It’s very weird and I 100% understand if it’s just left alone, since the one Assistant button is really all you need at the end of the day.

Weird, I haven’t noticed anything like it going to other monitors. That’s just where I have mine.

Nevermind, I just realized why… it doesn’t help that every time Assistant opens it’s by accident and crashes my studio when I close it.

Hi @MinerB4

We are revamping the Assistant and about to release it anytime soon. In the mean time, if you are still seeing the issue. Can you try to reset the view, and restart the Studio, see the issue is still happening?

Thank you!
