๐Ÿ›๏ธ Requesting Feedback: "TheStates" โ€” A Persistent Nation-Rebuilding Roleplay Game

Hey everyone โ€” Iโ€™m looking for genuine feedback on my upcoming Roblox game, TheStates.

:video_game: What Is TheStates?

TheStates is a long-term, persistent roleplay and simulation game set in an alternate history where the United States was never colonized or developed. Players are responsible for building the nation from scratch, shaping its future through their actions and decisions. It blends nation simulation, state-level politics, and community-driven rebuilding, all taking place on a fully explorable U.S. map where the story is written by the players themselves.

:jigsaw: Core Gameplay Features:

Hereโ€™s a breakdown of how it currently works and what players can do:

:balance_scale: Political System

  • Every player selects a state when they join (e.g., Suncrest, New England, Cascadia).
  • Each state has its own government structure (Governor, State Legislature, Law Enforcement, etc.).
  • Real elections are held, with campaign systems, laws, budgets, and policy-making.
  • Laws passed by the state or federal level actually affect gameplay (e.g., gun laws, taxes, land rights).

:earth_africa: Persistent U.S. Map

  • Full-scale U.S. map divided by state boundaries.
  • Custom terrain and environment for each region (plains, coastlines, deserts, forests).
  • States have cities, towns, capitols, and infrastructure that can be expanded.

:building_construction: Rebuilding & Economy

  • All infrastructure is gone. Players must rebuild cities, roads, and power systems from scratch.
  • Jobs include farming, construction, transportation, trading, and local services.
  • Players buy land, run businesses, or work under contracts from the state.
  • States earn revenue from taxes and can fund or cut services based on budgets.

:male_detective: Law Enforcement & Crime

  • Every state has its own laws and law enforcement system.
  • Criminal activities ( weapon smuggling, illegal border crossings) are tied to real consequences: arrests, trials, prison sentences.
  • Police forces are player-led and regulated by state officials.

:house: Property & Land Claims

  • Players can purchase and build on land (permanently saved).
  • Building rights are limited to claimed zones.
  • Everything from homes to businesses to farms are built manually or through systems tied to player contracts.

:chart_with_upwards_trend: Community Focus

  • This is not meant to be a pick-up-and-play experience.
  • Itโ€™s designed to foster long-term player-led communities, each with their own culture, economy, and politics.
  • That said, Iโ€™m now working on onboarding systems and gameplay loops for new players who donโ€™t want to get into politics but still want to enjoy the game.

:grimacing: Why I Need Feedback:

Iโ€™ve invested a lot of time and money into developing TheStates, but Iโ€™m reaching a point where I need outside input on:

  • :warning: Is the game too overwhelming or confusing for new players?
  • :bulb: Are the core loops (jobs, rebuilding, law, etc.) engaging enough without politics?
  • :brain: Does this game seem fun for casual players, or just for niche RP/politics fans?
  • :repeat: What features or systems would make YOU come back to the game?

Forgot to mention that every region has a seperate timezone so as youre traveling east to west you go back an hour, or forward an hour if going west to east.

Check out the game here if you want to provide more feedback.
