Right now my game is sitting at 58 likes and 49 dislikes when you play the game its a fairly decent game you would think the like ratio would be good but its not and when I go to the feedback tab most of the time nothing would appear so I won’t know what to fix I am trying to improve my game but its hard if most of the dislikes give me no feedback to work with the reason why I said also make it where you can’t vote unless you play for 10 to 15 minutes is to protect against players who
rage-quit after dying once and immediately dislike game and of course doesn’t give any feedback about the game being too hard or something
I don’t think people will actually fill out a forced feedback form to dislike a game.
While your requests seem to be in good faith, I see these becoming redundant very quickly
The like/dislike ratios on games aren’t and never will be perfect, but they are a fairly decent indicator for most games’ quality, more often than not lowly rated games will have lower quality
It’s up to the individual player to decide whether that ratio will be their definitive judgement for the game or whether they’ll bother checking it out regardless of the rating.
Adding a 15-minute requirement for voting & on top of that requiring feedback in order to simply downvote a game makes it so plenty of people won’t bother voting at all (not to mention how it already requires you to have an email assigned)
When I join what is very obviously a scam game or some low quality copy-pasted clickbait cashgrab, I won’t be sticking around for another 15 minutes to affirm to others something which you can realize with one glance after loading into the game, let alone be bothered to write feedback on it; It’d be a waste of time.
↑ I’m aware that technically it’s a double-edged sword since upvoting would also require spending the same amount of time in the game, but I rather be able to tell a game is low quality by its dislike ratio than there being not enough votes to tell because nobody bothered to stick around for a proper ratio to be formed.
This is why platforms like Steam allow for proper reviews which also display the time a user has spent playing next to their profile.
Players shouldn’t be able to vote at all if they aren’t planning to spend time in your game. It could at least be lowered to 5-10 minutes.
On this, (more jumping off from what you’re saying, not really in response)…
I think Roblox should get rid of this feedback system they have and make a fleshed out Reviews system. One that would show the time played and more. The current solution isn’t always prompted to users, nor is it a long-term robust feature.
There’s points on whether things should be for developer feedback versus user-facing on game landing/details pages. Different purposes. I’d also say that paid games make more sense for reviewing over free-to-play ones. I guess I’m trying to say there’s a lot we could detail here.
If Roblox made a bigger solution though, that means it’d be harder to justify adding or changing things with the current system in the meantime, like this feature request.
I’m not entirely against it, there are ways of understanding feedback from your game and whatnot, but it’s also not the longer-term solution I think should be in place.
as an aside, I can recommend doing QA testing. Watch someone play your game, maybe a recording or live, and see what happens.
some parts might not be as fair to the audience playing as you might think. Or, if it’s stage-based, you could do custom analytics to see where players get stuck. Of course, the game could be reaching an unintended audience related to difficulty or some other factor.
Looking briefly at the game, maybe the AI is too quick or difficult in another way. Or, when Baldi is another player, maybe there’s not enough balance to ensure the players can get far.
That’s another reason why I stated make players leave feedback when downvoting for example: if a player leaves because of rage-quiting because of maybe Baldi’s damage on hit is too high (its on 40) per hit right now, or Baldi is too fast making them leave feedback and tell which one is the issue would tell and I would nerf Baldi
If that was implemented, most players would spam or put the minimum requirement or close the page. You can’t force people to want to give feedback, nor can you expect those players to be fully articulate about why they stopped playing.
You could give an optional in-game way for players to give feedback, or the other bits on QA. I could share how I’ve done both for my game if that helps. Good feedback isn’t usually forced, it’s voluntary.
Welp I just hope I get some more before my games rating goes below 50%
Have you considered that your game is terrible and that feedback is not the problem
well is good enough to not deserve its current like ratio
That’s basically what this game is! Although the fact that someone in the Roblox community had to make their own version of the discovery system kind of says a lot about the quality of the Roblox one.
Yeah, it’s what most point to. I’ve used it myself from time to time; agree on the note of the community doing it better than Roblox.
Roblox’s updates to discovery would have to be more uniform, fit their UI, and likely make things more streamlined or simple in some areas. I find the UI in ‘better discovery’ too chaotic, but I digress.
