200 people now own my group with higher permissions than me, and may have access to group funds and edit group places

I had a rank named Maelstronomer, for me, the admin. This was the only rank other than the default Guest.

I had manual approval on for quite some time.

I just turned manual approval off so anyone could join.

Apparently, there were around 198 join requests pending, and all of those people, plus a couple more who joined, were automatically put in the administrator rank.

I cannot delete their group wall posts except mine, I cannot move them to a new rank I just created named “Member”, and I cannot kick them from the group.

They may have access to group funds, and might be able to edit group places.

Fortunately, I only have about 84 robux in group funds, and haven’t uploaded my actual game to either of the private places - they’re just baseplates.

Unfortunately, this bug has the potential to be the very worst bug I have ever seen in my ten years with roblox. Imagine someone in my situation with a large amount of group funds and, worse, people taking the source place.

Please someone tell me I’m just missing something from the new groups layout or something.

P.S. I have since turned manual approval back on to avoid more people jumping in

History of the group:

  • [Group is created by someone unknown, date unknown. Not in audit logs]
  • 2015, a friend found a group with my username with no owner, so they took it
  • The friend gave ownership to me

Extra info:
“apparently, there was a bug where if you deleted a role & your browser is really slow you could delete the other role within that time, resulting in people being the same role as the owner”

  • this might mean it’s not as common of a bug as I thought. Still scary that people might have bugged groups and not know until it’s too late

I tried to replicate this with no luck.

yes this was a bug for a while (you had to try to do it, it would never happen by itself), it’s basically just lag switching your browser, I was able to do it

edit:

the group I used when I did this https://www.roblox.com/groups/2635588/the-mater-military#!/about

I’m in a group with a similar setup with multiple owners however the other members who get in the owner group actually are limited to what they can do compared to the original owner

Owner rank, but can’t change roles

No option to configure or distribute funds

However they can still access places in groups as well as configure items

This is an old bug that was patched where you could have only one rank and have multiple owners it was seen on a group owned by LuckyMaxer that I currently own but I don’t know why this happened because I have another rank on a group just like yours and anyone that joins gets put on the non-owner rank. Here is the group anyways. https://www.roblox.com/groups/906834/Various-Testing#!/about

The bug itself is patched (from what I know) but does still affect old groups.

The other rank in my group was created after this whole thing happened
With only 1 rank, it made everyone automatically join admin

I did the same thing and it didn’t happen for the group I have.

because you have a non-owner rank

Doesn’t your group have a non-owner rank? I have 2 ranks just like yours.

here

Oh I see, I thought you meant the other rank in the group was made after the bug for having multiple owners happened but you meant it as in the other rank was made after you accepted all the users into the group which they got the owner rank.

Thanks for the report!

Engineering team has resolved the issue for your Roblox group. @Maelstronomer
