A melee game idea, will it be fun?

So recently I have been struggling with the new game idea for my game project. Originally, my idea was about making a TPS(third person shooter) game, but for some reason, I want to start a whole new game project, here is the idea:

There will be huge arena in this game, players spawn in lobby, they can enter the arena by walking in a door in lobby. Players will combat each other with a standard melee weapon(maybe a sword),and there will be some extra equipment they can pick up on the ground during the fight such as armor, shield, healing…etc.Each kill will grant you some coins, and you can use them to customize yourself.

That’s the idea, so my question is, will it be fun? Please let me know what you think about it.

The idea is solid.

You have given the players an objective and a way of progressing in the game and it is simple to understand.

You may wish to be careful with how original this is however. This sounds like a lot of other games so you should definitely try to have something to make your game stand out from others. This could be found in a unique combat system, rather than just LinkedSwords.

The hardest part will lie in making the melee combat enjoyable for your younger audience which probably aren’t that keen on LinkedSwords anymore. And so dealing with the issue of lag and latency when it comes to making your weapons.

I think the idea of armour, shields, healing is really good though. It creates a bigger emphasis on strategy as opposed to spam clicking.

Another thing to consider is the style of the game. Will it be low poly or high detail or cartoonish? There are others of course but this will affect the whole feel of your game.
