Hello, I know Roblox is working on encouraging as many people as possible to complete an age check, so they can access more age related features and enjoy a more age-appropriate and personalised experience. However, non age checked players will always remain on the platform, simply because it is impossible for some of them to age check (if they don’t have a camera), or for any other reason.
As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to retain non age checked players in experiences with chat related mechanics (like a door that opens when you type a sentence).
It is possible to fix some of the issues with a system like a TextBox that acts like the chat input bar, but it still doesn’t fix certain issues, especially native commands like /e dance or /clear (which still can be used for server messages).
If Roblox is able to address this issue, it would improve my development experience because it would simplify chat related systems and fix native chat commands for non age checked players, allowing me to better retain non age checked players.
Here is how I imagine the chat input bar:
- It could be under or next to the blue “Unlock chat” button.
- Its input text could be “Other players can’t see your chats. Type in a message.” or any other message that would remind the player others can’t see their chats.
- When a non age checked player chats, they would a receive a message in red font that reminds them others can’t see their chats and that they need to complete an age check like: “Other players can’t see your chats. Complete an age check to unlock chatting.”.
