Add an optional 120 FPS setting for supported mobile devices

I would like Roblox to add an optional 120 FPS setting to the mobile client on supported iOS and Android devices.

For players using a 120 Hz display and capable hardware, a higher frame-rate option could provide smoother camera movement and more responsive gameplay, particularly in fast-paced experiences. The setting should allow up to 120 FPS where the device and experience can sustain it, rather than guarantee that frame rate in every situation.

The feature should be entirely optional and disabled by default. Players who prefer the existing frame-rate setting or want to prioritize battery life should be able to keep their current settings and switch back at any time.

Before enabling 120 FPS, Roblox should display a clear warning and require confirmation, for example:

Enabling 120 FPS may increase power consumption, drain your battery faster, and cause your device to run warmer. Actual performance depends on your device and the experience. Would you like to continue?

P.S. Actual gaming tests already demonstrate that capable phones can exceed 60 FPS in demanding games:

  • iPhone 17 Pro — PUBG Mobile: Notebookcheck measured 116.6 FPS average, ranging from 88–120 FPS, using the Smooth graphics preset.
  • iPhone 17 Pro — Genshin Impact: The same GameBench tests measured 116 FPS average at the lowest graphics settings with the 120 FPS option, and 86 FPS average at the highest settings.
  • iPhone 18 Pro — PUBG Mobile: Kvmboot’s published 60-minute test reported 87.8 FPS average and a 78 FPS 1% low, with a 90 FPS target. (worse conditions?)

I can run Fortnite at full FPS (at least for the first 5 minutes) at any setting and FPS cap it provides.
Roblox is either badly optimized and they’re hiding it or well, no other reason. :man_shrugging:

Would love if some people could bump this.

agreed, pretty sure even the iPads with M series chips don’t get 120Hz on roblox (they can run it, just no option)

there are literally hundreds of millions or even billions of devices capable of running roblox @ 120Hz, apple sells like 250M iPhones per year, so there are already hundreds of millions of devices from a single manufacturer that can run it, a ton of people trade in their phones for the latest and greatest each year
