Adding a "Same!" button

Problem -
How do you tell someone that you agree/are the same with/as them?

Solution -
You could do this: i might have been 3Ochars-ing a bit

That’s inefficient. Also, if I had “hearted” @KeyboardCombination 's post, it would just seem like I encourage them.
What else can we do?

Currently the main solution is the one that everybody knows, the old "I agree! 3O Charsrfesrfsssstfydsg"
But this is against TOS.

Suggestion -
Add a “Same!” or “Agree!” button to a post. If this existed it would likely:

  • Cut down on char-bypassing spam.
  • Add an efficient way to agree with someone.
  • Less polls would take up space on the forums

If they added this after I posted that, someone could do this to my post:

hey i’m not an artist alright

So, do you “Agree!” with me? Vote below!

  • Yes, add an Agree button!
  • No, don’t add an agree button!

Why though? That is what likes are for. Likes mean you just like the post or you agree with it. And overall depending on context everyone will know why you liked the post.

I disagree, I don’t see likes that way. Also, looking at my example, would you know that’s why people liked it. I wouldn’t.

That is your interpretation, but that is what they are for. We don’t need to clutter the interface. You liked something about it. What does “agree!/same!” say that likes don’t? If you agree with something or can relate to it you would use likes anyway.

First of all, this may not be implemented by the forum itself. Try suggesting to Discourse, the software this forum uses.

Also, why would a new feature be implemented if it’s going to be used rarely? The like button can be used for any reason. You could also DM that person.
