Advices for a new developer

I’m not sure which category should I put this on, I assume it’s this one. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

So I’m planning to develop an experience in Roblox solo. And I’d like to know what was your personal experience with developing solo or with a team? What should I know before I start going on my journey? Do you have any tips for a starter?

And yes, I do acknowledge the fact that I don’t make a great game overnight, or launch it and become successful that easily, I don’t have a high expectation or a low one. I’m trying to see if being a developer would be a good idea for me or not.

My scripting skills are fairly decent if that’s how you call it, though I am still learning. My building is okay-ish.

I’m not planning to create a huge experience filled with spectacular aspects, I’m trying to create a small project while knowing my limitations.

Any form of advice would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely pace yourself and don’t grind the game 24/7 because you’ll get burned out and uninterested.

Ask questions if you need to, but the doc’s are very helpful.

If you’re outsourcing content get them to send you RBXMs and not give access to the game itself.

Don’t be afraid to try and push what you know what to do, this is how you get better.

Plan your workflow in a program or a notepad.

I’m a solo developer too! I learn knew things every week. I wanted to do team create, but I can’t find any people, advices for you are:

  1. Not rushing things too much, don’t do something you can’t, stick to simple tasks and try going back to it when you fail.

  2. Try to find motivations to keep on continuing.
