Alare 2.0 - cancelled

INTRODUCING ALARE 2.0 :artist:

ALARE 2.0 is an advanced lighting and graphics engine built specifically for Roblox developers who want their games to look realistic without the headache of hunting down complicated tutorials, tweaking dozens of settings, or relying on thirdparty apps like ReShade.

ALARE combines real time realism, accessibility, and performance optimization to give your game visuals a massive upgrade.

Why ALARE 2.0?

Roblox’s default lighting engine is good for simpler graphics environments, but it reaches its limit fast. ALARE breaks those limitations by delivering effects that are usually only possible in traditional engines.

Some effects include:

  • Dynamic Depth of Field (DoF) – Autofocuses on the primary object in view, smoothly blurring backgrounds without overdoing it.
  • Motion Blur (Pseudo) – Adds camera-relative streaks for fast motion, mimicking true motion blur while remaining optimized.
  • Dynamic Adaptive Lens-Flare Systems (DALFS) – flares from lights and sun/moon that scale by angle, distance, and occlusion.
  • Volumetric Lighting & Fog – light beams and atmospheric fog that blend naturally with scene lighting, camera-aware.
  • Global Illumination – Simulated light bouncing and soft indirect illumination for realistic environments.
  • Performance & Optimization – Auto-scale effects based on FPS, toggle individual effects, and debug mode for monitoring.

Planned Effects – Mock SSAO, SSR, adaptive global illumination with light bouncing and smoothing, and advanced light diffusion.

Why ALARE is better than other alternatives

  • Accessibility First – Designed so anyone can implement advanced graphics without needing complex systems or high coding ability, if you can click a button, you can set it up.
  • Modular & Lightweight – Only enable the effects you need. No unnecessary UIs.
  • Dynamic & Adaptive – Effects adjust based on camera, scene, and lighting.
  • Plugin Integration – ALARE is designed as a plugin to make your workflow seamless.

Work in Progress

ALARE is currently in early alpha, with core systems fully functional. Early Access will be open sometime in the next few weeks.

Expect updates, new effects, and performance improvements before the final launch, ALARE is evolving with your feedback in mind

Pricing & Accessibility

We’re planning to price ALARE at around $20, making it an affordable investment for developers who want to level up their visuals without spending hundreds on assets or buying multiple plugins. Early alpha access will allow devs to experiment, provide feedback, and integrate ALARE before the full release

We built ALARE because as developers we notice a lot of people trying to reach realism in the dev space, but not knowing where or how to start, and we wanted to provide a easy and streamlined way for them to access realistic graphics, without hiding it behind a $50 paywall, or years of coding knowledge.

Just put this video up not long after initially writing this post, But heres a look at the light smoothing feature.

Could you provide more examples for this?

We have been through this already.

Alare is a system of stolen, uncredited works,

crammed into a poorly running ‘system’
All of its current systems are already open source and findable on the devforum or elsewhere. (I WILL personally prove it).
It will not make your game look better. It will not run well.

Spare your money. Do not purchase this fraudulent system.

Please consult the previous thread (exact same functionality btw. the commenters here pointed out everything you need to hear)

This developer is known for general malpractice.

I was too broke to buy this anyway, but thanks for the heads up.

Its really not that hard to insert a surface light and play around with the settings. I don’t see a point to this sorry. $20? I wouldn’t even use this if it was free.

I think the people who made this forgot to create a problem so they could sell the solution :person_shrugging:

Hi, id like to clear this up a bit.

In the case of previous ALARE builds, ALARE 1.0 specifically, yes, toolbox assets were used. however they were not knowingly put in there and once we caught them we immediately removed them for 1.7, which ultimately never released.

I urge you to wait until 2.0 releases and more information comes out about it before making claims. 2.0 is fully rewritten from the ground up by me, and i will do whatever neccesary to prove that.

Thanks

This was also clarified almost a year ago on the original ALARE post.

Why release an unfinished project for money? That just sounds like a very obvious scam

People pay for early access for various things all the time, albeit some might be a let-down.

What do you mean by this?

Why does this need to be said? Id hope a product for Roblox games would be compatible in Roblox

This is extremely vague. Why is it just ‘ok’? What limits are we talking about?

I dont get this, every feature listed here has already been done before on Roblox…

I acknowledge you say ‘some’, but id presume these are the ‘deal breaker’ features given this section is supposed to be the ‘why’.

But honestly, nothing here sounds very groundbreaking. If you look past all the buzz words and “Adaptive dynamic, cinematic realism”, a lot of the features here have had various open sources of them that work just fine

The features im mainly taking about:

  • Dynamic DOF is already an open sourced system: Dynamic Depth of Field

  • Motion blur is has been made literally a thousands times over. Found this right away off a google search: Simple Motion Blur script for beginners!

  • Volumetric lighting & fog has been done so soo many times. 1 google search is all it takes and you can find tons of open source systems

This section name and it’s explanation do not correspond whatsoever

This is so meaningless

Why even make this post?

Well, I cant actually try the resource. But from how it sounds, i think you need to reconsider this project. I suggest narrowing down your scope to just 1 or 2 of the features you’ve listed, and if you still are selling this for money, the resource should offer functionality that I cant find for free after 5 minutes searching google

Again, what plugins or assets are you referring to? Everything I find that offers the same features promised here is open sourced

All excellent points/questions, but I’m fairly confident they used an AI to create this post…

No no! Alpha builds will be free, just more limited then full.

For the first 2 questions I’m referring to things like ReShade commonly used to emulate similar effects, which are third party. By saying the engine is just ok but has limits i’m saying the things im making for A2.0 are features not natively supported. Things like GI, Motion Blur or Volumetrics.

Regarding your other arguments, most of that can be answered with the same response which is: just because somebody has done it before doesnt mean nobody should ever try to do it again.

Thats the exact thought process that halts progress forward in the dev space, and discourages people trying to do new & cool things and improve. You are talking as if you already know and can predict the engine’s quality and functionality, i encourage you to be patient and wait for more info and stuff to come out

Also, many of the methods and systems im using actually are original (to my knowledge!!) methods or at least ones not often used. I will try my best to make a high quality system that lives up to its claims, and if it underdelivers, ill lower the price and keep working till it does.

Sorry if this is typed kinda weird im on a phone lol

Id like to add i really appreciate all this feedback, and i did change the post a bit with it in mind.

I agree the original post had a bit too much emphasis on being dynamic or buzzwords, etc, which isnt what im going for.

Thank you!

Im currently going through a few different GI Methods to try and see which i like the most. Heres one of them ive been working on, as i keep experimenting ill surely find ways to improve it more, but i think its a good start!

i’m assuming you’re talking about volumika (atleast, that’s the only lighting-related asset i know that costs or used to cost 50 dollars), which is weird considering volumika is free now, same with most of elttob’s other works

This system is practically a complete scam, it uses free models and stolen assets without attribution. Also she did state that it was in “early access” most likely an excuse to bugs or things not working. Guys think twice before purchasing these.

Intriguing.

Firstly, some of you may have seen my post on Alare 1.5, which severely underdelivered.

You can find my honest review there.

Secondly,

Alare uses a lot, a lot lot lot, of stolen toolbox assets. The owner even acknowledged it and shifted the blame, which, is dodgy.

Thirdly,

The owner condones racism, and I presume I’m not permitted to attach screenshots hee and I won’t, but she stands idly while slurs are spread in the discord she linked.

I do not aim to, disrespect or hate on Alare, and my standpoint comes from a lot of underdelivering on promises and first hand experience.

Beware!
