Algorithm Problems - QPTR and Audience

My game, Zombies Vs Humans, has had a huge QPTR decrease after many months of stable QPTR. I’m unsure if it was in correlation to algorithm changes or updates that we made to the game, but the QPTR seems to be capped at around 0.4% with no room for improvement. My team has tried a variety of thumbnails including previously successful thumbnails and we’re unable to get a suitable QPTR. We understand that the game got an increase in impressions in correlation with the QPTR drop, but don’t understand why the QPTR still doesn’t improve as impressions have come down.

Below I’ve attached a screenshot of the impressions chart and QPTR chart.

I would appreciate if someone could take a look at it and confirm that there isn’t a problem with the audience that the algorithm is targeting.

Hi @DaRandomHolder I don’t necessarily think this is a bug.

I first looked at your Demographics from “Now” and “30 days ago”, where I observed that the age distribution of your audience has changed quite a lot in the last 30 days.

I then looked at some of your metrics broken down by age group e.g. playtime, payer conversion and observed that the new demographic performs better than the old demographic.

This makes me believe that the targeting is correct.

As to why your QPTR doesn’t perform as well, it’s kind of hard to tell. QPTR is influenced by your own thumbnail/name/etc, other experiences (e.g. if you’re next to a really popular experience with high QPTR users might be less likely to play yours), and overall platform metrics.

Same happened to me. It seems like they tried to match my game with a more monetizable audience since the payer conversion is better, but the retention is also lower and my QPTR has been cut by more than half despite trying a bunch of thumbnails. I get what they’re trying to do, but this results in less overall revenue since less players come from recommendations.
