Allow Mobile Clients to Uncap Frame Rates (Support for 90Hz/120Hz Displays)

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to test and optimize high-end mobile performance because of the existing frame rate limitations.

​Currently, the Roblox mobile client applies a hard 60 FPS cap on all devices, regardless of the hardware specifications or screen refresh rate. This limitation makes it impossible to utilize the full potential of modern mobile hardware (such as with 120Hz Galaxy S25 Ultra Galaxy S26 Ultra ) for accurate performance testing or to provide a premium, smooth experience for mobile users.

​If Roblox is able to address this issue by porting the “Maximum Frame Rate” settings from the desktop client to the mobile client, it would improve my development experience because:

​I could fully utilize the capabilities of modern mobile devices, leading to better and more seamless game development. ​I could accurately test performance and identify potential bugs related to high frame rates directly on mobile devices, without needing to rely on a PC. ​Providing high FPS support would allow developers to deliver a significantly better and more competitive experience for mobile players.

Specific Use Cases:

For competitive genres like First-Person Shooters (FPS), rhythm games, and fast-paced action games, 60 FPS is no longer the industry standard. High frame rates are crucial for reducing input lag and providing a fair competitive environment for mobile players.

Affected Devices:

Currently, flagship devices with 90Hz to 120Hz displays, such as the iPad Pro (M1/M2/M4), ASUS ROG Phone series, and Samsung Galaxy S23/S24 Ultra, are completely bottlenecked by this software limitation. We cannot deliver a AAA mobile experience if the engine restricts modern hardware capabilities.

I recently ran some performance tests on my mobile device using the in-game Performance Stats. The results clearly show that while the device is running perfectly smooth with very low CPU and GPU usage, the frame rate is strictly locked at a flat 60 FPS.

This proves that modern mobile hardware has plenty of unused performance overhead to easily support 90Hz or 120Hz. The software cap is artificially holding back the experience on high-end mobile devices.

Allowing us to uncap the frame rate would let developers fully utilize modern hardware capabilities and deliver a much smoother, competitive experience for mobile players.
