As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to play audio I have uploaded in other’s experiences. This would be very useful for many users. For example, somebody could use this to play a song they made in a boombox. I believe that if a user uploaded an audio, they should always be able to play it in any experience unless it is moderated regardless of their asset permission settings.
This would make it easy for many people who made their own songs to play their audios in any experience they join which has boomboxes without having to make an audio public.
Roblox already provides a large catalogue of audio in the creator store that is able to be played in experiences. In addition we have a partnership with Distrokid that allows creators to distribute music on Roblox. We also allow creators to upload sound effects less than 10 seconds and make them public. Finally, creators can grant permissions to have their audio played in experiences that they have access to.
Could you provide some examples of audio that you would like to play that does not work with the options above? Keep in mind that all audio that users upload to Roblox must follow our terms of service.
Thanks for the information! This is not something that we support at the moment.
From what I understand (and please correct me if I am wrong) you want to play these audio assets in any experience you join, even if you did not build or contribute to the experience. Are you looking to play the audio from a Roblox system menu or through something like a boombox that the creator adds to their experience?
I see, thanks for the clarification. We intentionally do not support that feature and are not planning to support it for the foreseeable future. In the meantime please use one of the options I listed earlier in the thread or work with the original creators of the music to get it on Roblox.
