this is intentional. AlphaMode must be set to Overlay in order to stop the accessory being transparent

I’ve seen multiple Layered Clothing assets with AlphaMode on, having it intentionally forced so you can’t make translucent clothes limits a lot of creativity. I get having this option disabled for bundles but for Layered Clothing makes no sense to me.

Whilst I have no idea what this property is (I don’t create LC myself), you’d be surprised at the lengths people go to to find loopholes and upload exploitative items. This was likely one of those cases.

The only “exploitative” items that were uploaded with AlphaMode SurfaceAppearence were on bundles and heads, layered clothing never had any items like this. They disabled it from being validated entirely instead of just for bundles and heads, which I find unfair and again, it limits creativity.

To further prove my point, if the clothing isn’t a solid color then it doesn’t make any body parts invisible underneath the clothing. Therefore, making it not possible to upload any “exploitative” clothing to the catalog with this feature.

Probably to do with the fact that layered clothing hides geometry below it to help with performance translucent clothing would allow you to see straight through the character!

If you actually watched the video I sent, it shows that translucent clothing doesn’t hide the geometry. That’s the entire point I was trying to make.

I wasn’t reparenting the layered clothing to the character after applying transparent texture that’s why it still showed as being invisible smh
guess I will just leave bye.

Oh wait, you’re one of them  you uploaded lagger LC items back when this was possible. Makes me question the legitimacy of this “bug” report, and whether your intentions are to be creative or open up some more loopholes so you can abuse them.

  1. stop stalking me
  2. I didnt upload any, I only bought them
  3. I’ve been wanting to make translucent clothes/items for at least half a year, I’ve constantly complained about it to people

And again, if you even bothered to watch the video (you were too busy stalking me), you’d see it’s not possible to do much with this… except translucent… items…

:scream:

Anyways, let’s stay on-topic here.

It’s obviously an intentional security feature and has been labeled as such by engineers, so this would then become a feature request: #feature-requests.

“Obviously” not so much. There’s no reason why it should be globally disabled for ALL validation, it should only be disabled for bundle validation. I don’t see why I have to explain this again.

You don’t. The fact of the matter is that this is intentional behavior, not a bug, and if you want it changed, you’ll need to post in the proper category, which is #feature-requests. Simple forum rules.

Translucent items are unfortunately quite problematic, glass doesn’t render translucent objects behind it. So in some cases, the accessories will entirely go invisible which is an extra variable that needs to be accounted for, basically two items in one for moderation to look at. Transparency is also apparently very heavy on performance in comparison to opaque parts, so performance decreases are likely.
