Ammend TOS for Place Thumbnail Copyright & Affiliation Violations

The use of photos, screenshots, logos, and other content strictly representative of or pertaining to another video game or such product not created by or explicitly for the creator of a Roblox place in a Roblox place should be strictly prohibited.

Roblox is supposed to promote originality. Letting individuals exploit the efforts of other developers, often used here on roblox for personal profit, is a legal and moral offense, and should be seen to and dealt with as such.

Seeing stuff like THIS gets really frustrating at times. In the aforelinked place, a screenshot released from Dead Island’s upcoming game, Dying Light, which can be found at this link, is used to advertize a “DayZ” roblox game.

Another absolutely FABULOUS example is THIS place. It uses screenshots from Minecraft creations such as “Temple of Notch” , published to PlanetMinecraft.com by _Disco two years ago. To quote from the PlanetMinecraft TOS,
You agree to follow all applicable laws and regulations when using this website. Furthermore, you agree that you shall not: … 7. Sell access to or the use of this website, including any content contained on, downloaded or accessed from this website, except as specifically permitted in writing by Planet Minecraft;
The place also uses artwork from the popular multi-platform game, Subway Surfers. Amongst those is a screencap from CaptainSparklez’s youtube video, “Minecraft Style”. These two places, as many are aware, exist amongst many other such violations. There are currently over 20 placecs under the moniker “DayZ”, not including subsequent alterations provided by adding spaces or other such characters. Hundreds of places under exist going under the moniker “Call of Duty”, with some places explicitly being named “Black Ops 2”.

This isn’t fair to the guys behind making all of this content. Neither user holds copyright certification for uploading content from those games, or using content from those games for advertising purposes. Using these images as place thumbnails constitutes as advertising, and in many cases these users are turning a profit from these places, which, legally, can and will constitute as using the aforementioned infringed content for monetary purposes. Again, this is both a legal and a moral offense, and should be seen to and dealt with as such.

On the grounds of misrepresentation, these images or places thereof should be removed or moderated in a way seen fit by the Roblox staff.

Web Features seems like the only fitting place to post this topic.

I remember Adamintygum stating that the reason they haven’t allowed us to upload meshes is because ROBLOX would become overrun with non-original work like you have pointed out. They already don’t want ROBLOX to become like those places, so I hope that they will take this in with open arms c:

This should also nuke a bunch of the bait/switchers. Also, what’s with the Minecraft content that keeps getting past the image mods? e.e Noble is probably pissed right now.
