Angland, as stated in the title, takes place in 10000 BC. This means that the Holocene has just begun, and the anatomically modern human is taking over new lands, previously covered by glaciers.
Hypothermia: if you are outside without clothes, not running and it is cold, your body temperature will be decreasing. If it falls too low, you lose your vision and then die.
Pottery: make pots out of clay and fire them in wooden kilns. This allows you to carry water and snow when you travel. You can also collect snow and eat it, which restores thirst but decreases your body temperature, or you can place the pot with snow on a campfire to melt the snow into water.
Infinite world: the world is procedurally generated from a seed, using the Rolling Hills terrain generator that I posted about before. There are meadows, grasslands, temperate forests, pine forests, deserts, oceans, taiga and tundra as the possible biomes, as well as mountains.
Animals: one of the main challenges in Angland is surviving hostile animals - namely, packs of wolves and bears.
Weapons: to hunt, defend yourself, or to attack other players, you can make spears, axes and bows. Spears can be thrown.
Difficulty/latitude selection: the first player that joins a server can select the server’s latitude, from the easy temperately-temperatured equator to the very difficult tundra.
Cooking: meat can be eaten raw, but carries a risk of poisoning. Cooked meat is safer but restores less thirst.
End of game cutscene: after 20 minutes of a server existing, rescue helicopters arrive, and a fully voiced cutscene starts. Depending on what the player does, they may unlock one of the 4 (+1) endings.
If you eat too much human meat, you will experience some special effects, and the rescuers will avoid you.
TUTORIAL:
If at any point you are attacked by bears or wolves and you do not have a spear, it is best to get them as far away from your base as possible and try to fight them when you do get a spear to retrieve your items.
Go to a forest and find 3 rocks.
Make a sharpened rock.
Cut down a few trees and collect the wood
If it is cold, place a campfire.
Make a crafting table.
Make an axe
Find a herd of cows and kill a few. Collect the meat, skin and sinew.
Make a spear so that you can effectively defend yourself from wolves and bears.
Build a shelter to shield from the elements - place a few floorboards, surround them with walls and place a roof on top. Don’t forget to include a door.
If you are in a cold biome, place a campfire inside to create a warm place.
TRY TODAY:
Let me know what you think! I am also actively looking for youtubers or tiktok creators to partner with to push the game to a wider audience, so if you have about 1-10k subscribers on social media you might be who I am looking for.
This looks rly fun, I’ve been looking for a proper survival game like this. The only thing that doesn’t make sense is why would there be a rescue helicopter in 10000 BC
Overall looks fun tho.
Thank you!
The story with the helicopter is that the player is a time traveler that was sent to the wrong place, so the scientific crew arrived to bring them back to our time.
Thanks! There are bears and wolves that can kill you easily if you are not prepared. I plan to add more neutral and aggressive animals with updates in the future like moose, goats, bison and anything else that comes to mind.
Released an update - wolves and bears can sniff you from further if you have meat in your inventory, added shouting by pressing v which may intimidate wolves if your health is high enough and they are not in a pack.
Could you add mobile support? I couldn’t sprint and also I didn’t know how to progress.
When you start nearer the equator there are also no forests, so you cant progress
Hi! I don’t currently plan on adding mobile support although it is possible probably. The forests generate procedurally, so you just got an unlucky seed.
I kind of want there to be like a random stat system, like everyone has different stats cuz if its realistic, then realistically, people who lived during the Holocene were all different. The stats wouldn’t make to much of an impact but be minor things like, slightly faster running, slightly more stamina, slightly stronger, cuz it represent genetics and adds another layer of detail to the game.
This could also be used as a way to get extra money from the game with rerolls, and since they dont have enough of an impact to make the game p2w just slightly easier.
