How would I animate both the player and the door at the same time? I’m trying to do this for testing animations. I tried using moon animator, but it wouldn’t comply.
Dunno what your talking about because this is easy to do with moon animator
In moon animator create a rig animation on either the door or character. Once you’ve done that click the blue cross to add an item into the animation
click on the item you want to add to the rig (in this case im adding the dummy) then click ok in the submenu. You’ll likely get a popup telling you that its gonna convert to a moon animator 2 file. Click ok for that also.
Now both things can be animated in the same scene. If you want to export something, click file > export rigs.
Something important is that you will have to split the animations into two or more parts, one for each item in the animation. What this means is that the characters animation will be separate from the door’s animation and you’ll play them at the same time in-game.
I believe you can just export rigs without doing anything more, but I like to remove any items that are not in the animation for my target. So if i’m exporting the animation for the character, i’d remove the door from the animation. You can do this by clicking on the hamburger menu and clicking delete. (dont save your animation after you do this)
Thanks. However, the only problem is that I’m having trouble rigging the door for moon animator use.
I usually just use editrig lite (although moon animators easy weld also works) to create Motor6Ds for the rig.
I create a root part for the rig which you can think of being like the HumanoidRootPart in a character. I make it non-visible then create Motor6Ds from there, connecting other parts that need to move with other Motor6Ds.
Best way i can describe this is like its a chain.
The end of the chain you can think of being the hand of an arm and the start of it being the upper arm. If you want to move the upper arm you’d connect that to the torso which the torso would be connected to the root. If you want to move the forearm you would connect it to the upper arm and if you want to move the hand you would connect it to the lower arm, then the chain would end there.
Thats basically the door but theres only the root and the door, so you would only need one Motor6D for the door.
make rigs primary part humanoidrootpart, and doors primary part the frame (or whatever has the joint directly under it)
basically, moonanimator says,
“hey this model has a primary part with a joint under it, must be animatable.”
if the joint isnt under primary part, moonanimator doesnt see it.
moonanimator also looks at the parts connected to the main joint and checks if they have any joint under them.
this repeats until you have the full rig, but everything has to be connected to main join
I also added a animator and a controller in the door, since it wouldn’t play without. That okay?
