So, I made two blender models, I tried importing the tree leaves but when I import it, it says “Unexpected File type”, can someone please help me on this? Thank you. ![]()
Are they objs or .blend files? If it’s a blend then export and not save
It’s a blend file, and thanks for the answer.
Make sure you export it if it’s a .blend file, as @0x6e7367 said, But I would personally recommend you to use .obj You can do whatever floats your boat tho
If you are trying to upload the file ending with .blend, that wont work. In Blender, you need to go to:
File > Export > Wavefront(.obj) or FBX(.fbx)
*Comes down to what you may prefer but yea
*
Once you save what you are exporting, you can then upload that to Roblox. If you are still getting that error however and you are trying to upload a file thats either .obj or .fbx, I’m not sure why that is occurring.
here, this might help.
Take note
OBJ - imports mesh data no color,
FBX - Vertex color and mesh data, cant be exported in groups
Alright. So, the FBX if for colored mesh, right? I would need help on configuring that, I did the FBX one, but when I imported it, it’s still white, could you please tell me why and how? I’ve already colored it on blender.
You need to have its Vertex Node on. (Ithink)
Where can I turn the vertex node on?
For me personally, Exporting it as an obj group and coloring it on roblox is a go to, But If you want ot add logos, and other textures, you do need to unwrap it
Shaders tab, then if you have already added material for your mesh, then just do Shift+A then search Vertex Color. Attach the vertex color on the Color node of the Principle BDSF.
Actually, I would separate the leaves and the trunk so I could color it on studio.
as i said yes that’s good way. You just need to export it as an OBJ Group. Here’s my Video explaining it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0BCCNVRtGM
If the thread is solved?
It’d be better if you mark a response that answered your question or helped you solve the issue with a solution instead of putting “Answered” in the title, with no solution to the actual thread. (Click the checkbox on the options line) so that others who have a similar problem/ question know that there’s a solution here, so they can use that to help them with with the same problem there experiencing.
this just made my life 500x easier
Exporting it as an obj group and coloring it on roblox is a go to,
