Anyone want to test my sci-fi RP game?

Hi everyone, I just dropped a beta of my first game. It’s a role-play on a space station called Gemini One.

Right now you can:

  • Do jobs to earn credits: deliver cargo, run the restaurant, mine ores with your own ship.
  • Own an apartment and even sue other players—Judicial team decides the outcome.
  • Vote on laws, Security can arrest criminals, Medics can heal for credits.
  • Eventually, climb up to Overseer and basically run the whole station: change laws, set taxes and wages.

It’s still early beta, but I’d love some feedback if you check it out:

This game is very cool. The map is great and very detailed. I have some suggestions:

  • Fix soon: Citizen terminal doesn’t work, I expect an interactive popup when pressing E
  • Fix soon: NPCs don’t work, I expect a dialogue system when pressing E
  • Move the entire top bar and the corner display (rank, credits, food, satisfaction, etc.) into the visor menu for more immersion.
  • Take it to another level by having the visor force the player into first person, where they see a physical UI within their suit (this would be very cool and even more immersive, but would need to be implemented in a snappy fashion if it contains info that the player needs to check often)
  • Reduce horizontal spacing between items in the bottom grid
  • Nerf punch, shouldn’t be able to one-shot everything
  • Remove ability to punch NPCs unless you intend to make them react
  • Make the visor menu more compact in general, it’s too spread out and takes too much screen space (at least for PC players like me)

Great job! I am jealous of your space station, I always wanted to make one myself. This game would make more a great sci-fi roleplay, and it’s got the depth that genre demands.

Thank u so much for the effort to give feedback!! Hmmm dialogues arent working?? Strange, they work for me :open_mouth: i agree the UI is still a bit cluttered i havent really spend much time on it yet. I will look into everything u wrote tomorrow

Do you mean these don’t work for you??

Yes, they were not functioning when I was playing. I would note that I joined an ongoing session, not a fresh server, so there’s a chance that a bug occurred and it caused the dialogue menus to break server-wide. Or the server version was old.

I’ll update this post when Roblox lets me play the game (my internet is weak).

Hmmm thats odd, thanks for reporting tho. I changed the dialogue UI today, what do you think?

That’s much better. At first glance, I would lower the volume of the typing sound. Outside of that, and this is a minor thing, but important enough to note: have a background behind the NPC dialogue, or stretch the gradient and play with the camera angle to make the text more readable. In my opinion, the outline isn’t enough to make the text readable, and instead makes it appear thinner due to the light font weight. The outline works when the background is already dark (like at the civic hall), but not in front of an NPC with a white suit. Best to remove the outline (this will make the text appear bigger) and opt for a black background (gradient or solid).

Upon playing now, both the NPCs and all terminals work. The game is much more fun with this

Thank you!! I added a transparant black background to the dialogue text
