Appealing a terminated compromised account gets denied

The user, screenshots and ticket(s) will be in the associated private message for privacy.

My friend was unfortunately a victim of a phishing attack, their account was taken over (login details changed) and limited items were traded away.

The people (or person) who accessed my friends account also had uploaded models and said illegal and vile things on it which led to it being deleted.

For awhile, my friend could not login to their account- unaware that they’ve been deleted.

They managed to work with support to restore their details back and able to log in, only to be met with their account being terminated.

So, they went to support to appeal it, but it was denied when it was terminated by those who took over their account.

I believe this is a bug or an internal issue
that could potentially be a major issue to victims of compromised accounts.

Expected behavior

The appeals team should know if an account was compromised or not at the time of moderation.

In general, compromised accounts are vulnerable due to these actions of the perpetrator, even if it happened years before. I am unsure why within that point in time of the compromise it is not noted that the incident happened.

Although this is not mentioning of an enforcement ban, but with the email being changed, there is an issue that could lead to the user being terminated once again for that. I figured this out myself since I was terminated more than once for that reason, despite the compromise happening almost four years ago.

Users should not be penalized post-account recovery.
