Applying a texture frequently breaks other textures

Often, when I try applying a texture onto a part, especially parts in a model, other textures will have strange and inconsistent bugs happen to them.

For example, here’s a video of me trying to paste the same sand texture onto the faces of these bricks that are grouped together:

You can see that occasionally, not only will most other textures in the model disappear, but sometimes Studio will end up applying the wrong texture entirely, swap one texture in the model out for another, or other weird issues I’ve seen. What happens doesn’t seem consistent, but the issue is fairly easy to reproduce for me, just pasting textures onto bricks in quick succession will almost always make this glitch occur no matter what place I do it in.
This bug has happened sometime in the past, but stopped happening for a while. Now it’s back again.

Salutations!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Our apologies for the late response.
A ticket was filed, but we need more information about it.

Is this issue still happening at your end?
If so, please provide a log file and a Repro Placefile so we can be able to investigate it right away!

If you need assistance or info on how to get them, please refer to the How to post a Bug Report - Bug Reports - Developer Forum | Roblox

Thanks for understanding!
Have A Nice Day!

Hey! Thanks for the reply.

Yes, this is still happening, even on the latest version of Studio. I can’t give an exact date on when it started happening, but I think it started for me less than a week before I made this thread on Nov 29th.

Here’s the repro file:
TextureBugRepro.rbxl (55.1 KB)

And the link to the log file:
https://devforum.roblox.com/t/applying-a-texture-frequently-breaks-other-textures-log-file/4264277

All I need to do to reproduce the bug is simply copy, then paste a texture onto any face of a brick, and there’s a high chance something strange will happen after just a few pastes.

Thanks for taking a look!

Still present 17 days since this post.

Wanted to bump this as well and report that this glitch is still happening, and it’s begun happening for me as of this very moment. I never ran into this problem until yesterday, when I updated to the latest version of Studio.

Is this still happening? I’m trying to repro and I can’t see the issue.

If this does happen, can you please be very explicit and specific about which steps you are taking? Cause maybe it is dependent on the exact steps and I might do something slightly different.

Yep, it’s still happening, although it’s pretty inconsistent sometimes.
I wish I could be more specific, but there’s not a whole lot to it for me:

  1. Double-click a texture on one side of a brick (in the repro file, I select the sand texture, though it seems to happen with any of the textures)
  2. Ctrl + C to copy
  3. Hover the mouse over an untextured side of another brick
  4. Ctrl + V and click to paste
  5. Do this across multiple bricks, and it happens eventually–sometimes within just 2 or 3 pastes, other times it takes about 15 or 20 pastes

It seems like an uncommon issue, but a friend of mine has also encountered this bug, and has very different PC specs than me. Thank you for looking into it.

Ok I will try more today then

Also do you know if you see this on Mac / PC or both?

I unfortunately can’t get it to repro :frowning:

To respond to your last post–I was seeing it on my PC, not sure if it happens on Mac.
Bummer that you’re having trouble with the repro. For what it’s worth, it happens less on the most recent version of Studio and on a newer account of mine that has less plugins. It could just be luck, though…I can’t figure out a pattern to it for the life of me.

Do you have publicly available plugins? Have you tried to repro without the plugins enabled?

I tried it without plugins just now, and it did take much longer than normal, but after a while, it happened once or twice. It took about 2 minutes of pasting, though.

Here are the plugins I had installed on the newer account I was testing on:
