Are Discord Tag Allowed In "About Me"/Bio?

I was woundering if you can put your Discord tag in your Roblox Developer Forum Bio?

Yes including your tag is allowed, but what is really not desired is discord links in public sections of the forum

This is allowed, as long as your not advertising Discord servers, it’s okay.

you aren’t allowed to advertise discord servers in public sections at all, because a <13 user could see it

I don’t see an issue with it. But you might not want to cause people might see it when they go to your profile and start blowing you up. Don’t do it on your Roblox one OFC cause those >13 might see it and might add you violating COPA law. But yeah on the DevForum as @.Noctarius said as long as you’re not promoting anything really. You should be fine.

In fact, don’t put Discord on your Roblox profile because the Terms of Service does not permit it.

Discord tags seems to me like skirting the rules regarding offsite links. I would not put them in profile descriptions.

I would say that your tag is fine, since by definition its a string and not a link therefor conforms with the dev forum rules, someone being able to use the tag assumed that they already have discord

Aren’t games and groups void from this rule though? I swear that they were. Even still I think these links will only show up if the user’s account was 13+ and the option to add them only shows up if the creator’s account is 13+.

If this is true with games and groups, why can’t it work the same way with user profiles? If the account owner is 13+ they could add their personal Discord server to their links (like how they can YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and Facebook) and whoever’s viewing their account has to also be 13+ to be able to see the link.

This could be a way to not enforce owning a game / group just to get people into your Discord server, like maybe you’re a freelance game artist and the best way to get to your community is directly from your profile hence you don’t own a game and maybe don’t own a group.

Yeah this doesn’t make sense to me either, just like the default Roblox website certain offsite links will not show up if you’re not logged in. There’s some gaps in what is and what isn’t allowed as you’d expect this to work the same way for being the same system.

I know Developer Forum is made off of Discourse so I don’t know if this is something that you just can’t do with Discourse, but if possible it would make most sense to be applied.

This sounds like a very big loophole waiting to be created.

Discord links are only permitted through the Social Links feature. Groups and games are not void from the rule and outside of the Social Links tab are not allowed to make direct or indirect references to Discord in any descriptions, feeds (Game Updates/Group Shout) and so on.

Social Links only show up for users who are 13+, yes that’s correct. As for why they can’t work that way for user profiles, that’s not up to me because I’m not staff. The only thing I do know is that any direct or indirect references to Discord, including a username and discriminator, are not allowed on profiles.

If you want to see the addition of a Discord social link, file a request in the Platform Feedback categories. There should probably already be some there anyhow.

It is allowed, but you can not post or advertise your server.

That’s pretty much the rules. :slightly_smiling_face: Same off-site link rules for publicly visible data as the regular roblox.com site.

Skirt at your own risk.

You can make a separate post about it
