Hello.
I’m trying to figure this out because I can’t tell if I’m just going off outdated info.
The docs say hair maxes out at 3 x 5 x 3.5 studs on Classic, and smaller than that on Normal and Slender:
But there’s hair on the Marketplace that goes from the head all the way down past the avatar’s feet to the floor. I pulled one into Studio to measure it and even bought it and tested it in a game, and it’s nowhere close to those numbers, it’s way over.
Here it is in Studio. The transparent box is a part sized to exactly 3 x 5 x 3.5, the documented max for hair:
And it renders at full size in game too:
What made me look closer is that the description in the UGC Store literally says “MAY BE BROKEN FOR SOME GAMES THAT DISABLE ACCESSORY SCALING!” so I’m guessing the size is coming from accessory scaling and not the mesh, which would mean the upload check isn’t measuring the same size the game actually shows.
Here is the link to the item: Ronova - Long Hair | Genshin Impact - Roblox
So is the limit just higher now and the docs are behind? If it is I’d really like to know the real number, because I get rejected at the documented one. And if it hasn’t changed, is validation only looking at the mesh?
Also is this the same thing as this? UGC size bypass allows accessories that are thousands of studs wide
That one got closed after they deleted the items but from what I can tell the check itself never got changed.
Asking because it’s not just this one item, there’s a bunch from around the same time that all look like this.
So really what I want to know is how hair like this gets made. I’d like to make something this long myself but I get rejected at the documented size, so is there a supported way to do it that I’m just missing, or did these get through some other way?
Expected behavior
Either the docs match what’s actually enforced, or hair over the limit gets rejected on upload. Right now I can’t upload anything past 3 x 5 x 3.5 but stuff way bigger than that is already up and selling, so I don’t know what the actual limit is.
