So today I had this idea, what if we have a friendly competition (no reward) on who can make the best rated game (by a judge) in 1 day?
For instance, if I wanted to host a GameJam, would I be able to ask DevForum members if they wanted to participate in the competition for no reward?
I’m a little skeptical about including a reward because I know that giveaways like that are against the ToS. I (and everyone else) would do it for fun and show off their skills.
So what do you think? Is it okay to host a GameJam on the DevForum?
I don’t really think you can necessarily host/advertise your own events on the forum itself. However what I did for when I started my own game jam event for my own community was explain it in #bulletin-board then link to the post in the Discord server for it.
The only rules prohibiting such an event would be category guidelines and here is where I’m going to give you an answer both interpreting your post literally, and what I think you meant,
The only category (Excluding bulletin board as @sjr04 outlined in his response) where such a thing would follow guidelines would be in #lounge therefor to interpret it literally, outside of bulletin board, you cannot host such a game jam. However if we were to take it as dev forum users as a collective then you would be able to reach out to regulars for such an event in #lounge.
I would also state that wether it is paid or not I don’t feel is really relevant, you would be allowed to host a paid game jam to my knowledge.
You can’t advertise this using any other category except #bulletin-board. Event Organizers can host Game Jams and have it announced here or on Twitter by Roblox Staff members
