Are we allowed to post game critiques?

Sometimes I feel that there’s things to have be said (good and bad) about popular games, most especially events and sponsored games that should meet a certain standard of entertainment quality because they’re more popular than all other games while they’re active. This forum is indeed for game development and a little constructive criticism helps everyone improve their work. Can we post critiques about well-known games if they maintain a formal, unbiased attitude?

Yeah I’m asking this because I already have a game in mind.

you’re obviously not talking about moon tycoon here, right??

Maybe.

I don’t see why not?

As long as it doesn’t come out as a personal attack or you blatantly disrespect the game creator, then I don’t see why not.

And yes, I am also kind of unsure why such a place got an offical roblox event.

It should be fine if it’s all constructive. However, I would suggest critiquing the selection of the games instead, rather than focusing too much on the games themselves. After all, Roblox and the sponsor pick which games get selected for the event. The creator of the game just takes the opportunity, as they should.

Ive ranted on giftsplosion and roblox sales, im sure youll be fine

This. Talking about specific games might turn bad really fast and’ll most likely be taken as an offense. I say we should limit to discuss in a broader way and give specific criticism if asked.

On the other hand, I believe we are mature enough to hold good discussion so maybe we could review some games and propose improvements.

I think game critiques benefit most when they’re sent directly to the creators of the game. It doesn’t do much service as a thread - well you could argue that others could learn from your feedback because it could relate to them…

idk I’m stumped mid-sentence, I’ll just go with why not

Keep your critique about the game, and not the developers who made them and I don’t see why not.

Well, i think if you dont use “rude” words then its fine to say your opinion about other games.

if you offer solutions to your complaints, and not just complain about the game, I don’t see an issue, the developer (assuming they are on the devforums) can see your feedback, along with any replies to better their game.

however if you just be salty about a sponsored game and not offer genuine support…

I also feel that even if the game developer isn’t going to see the threat it is still a great case study for developers to discuss and learn from. If it is a constructive non accusatory dialog.

If we get feedback about what most developers think about a feature it could help other developers learn how they should make things for their next games.
