The import queue should be optional. All it does is slow down my workflow without reason. I am never importing more than one file at a time, so it only opens another window and adds more clicks to the same action for no tangible benefit. More than that, the import queue is far more unstable than the previous direct import functionality. I occasionally face crashes, failed file imports, and other issues that I never had with the direct import function.
To me, it seems that the 3d import queue was designed by someone who doesn’t actually use it.
@tasavix If I open a local Studio file, after publishing I still can’t import through the Asset Manager.
If I open an already published experience, it works as expected.
It’s so clunky to have to write code to replace meshes with clones to support instancing. Even doing that requires developers to be aware instancing exists and that it’s important. A Feature Request has been open for this since October with no response.
I was informed Asset Manager importing being incredibly slow would be fixed in this beta. This hasn’t released yet, so maybe it will be, but I want to raise awareness again in case it’s forgotten.
Same 192 KB FBX mesh
3:32.97 through Asset Manager Bulk Import
0:05.2 through 3D Import
I don’t like this at all. While it can be improved, I find it quite confusing.
I can’t figure out how to add a new place or anything.
I hope that these new interfaces can be reverted later and are not mandatory.
Edit: I did find out how to add a new place, but it isn’t as straight-forward as I might want it to be.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to import audio using this, it just looks like a list of my assets ? Is that feature now removed? I’ve spent about 30 minutes trying to figure that out. If it is removed, then do I have to upload every audio one at a time on create.roblox.com?
Edit: I was in a new game that I had published, I tried closing the game and reopening it and had no luck, I then tried closing out of studio entirely and relaunching it, and I now have an import button - this is insanely bad UX
Oh my god this system is SO BAD i’m nearly having a panic attack over it! Please let me change it back.
It always defaults to loading in ‘My’ assets, even when in group games
Then, I click import. I import an image.
WHERE IS IT?
I CLOSE THE IMPORTER - NOTHING HAPPENS. The asset manager just keeps showing my assets, sorted by an unknown order. It doesn’t take me to the recently uploaded list like the asset used to.
Where is the image I just uploaded? Is it under my profile or the group? No idea.
I click “Shared with experience”, nope, not there.
I import it again, this time explicitly while on the “shared with experience” view.
It says “Asset has been renamed to-” … a sign I DID successfully re-upload the same texture, except it still isn’t in this folder.
So it’s not uploaded to my main uploads, it’s not uploaded to the game, and even if it was it no longer takes me to the recent uploads.
I’m not going to lie, the feature that took you to a screen showing the things you just uploaded was the only way I EVER god any assets out, because the asset manager has always been terrible to view. Now it’s equally terrible, but now it’s lacking the only feature that made it bearable to use at all.
This is unusable, where is my image? I’ll report back to you in 30 minutes when I find it.
Edit: Even searching for the name of the file reveals nothing. It does not exist. I’ve uploaded it twice and it does not exist inside of this. This Asset Manager was broken and unusable months ago, and it is still broken and unusable. Roblox, you have to put this back in the oven.
I had to go to create.roblox.com to find this asset. Please, just give me the old asset manager back
