Asset Manager can lag the whole studio while it's loading because of the assets.

For a developer who needs to open and updates several roblox places one by one very quickly, the new Asset Manager became a problem because of the lack of loading button, it automatically loads and drops the fps by half which is very annoying.
Please fix or don’t let the asset manager load automatically. Let us load it manually if we need it.

Hey! Sorry to hear about the issues :folded_hands: and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

We’ve recently rolled out a few fixes related to this issue; you can try restarting Studio once or twice and see if it improves performance! Some other workarounds if not:

  • You can try moving most of your top-level assets into folders, reducing what’s initially loaded.
  • You can switch to a different inventory (like the game’s folder or another group) momentarily and your user’s assets will continue loading in the background.

To help me debug, you can send me a log of this Studio session! And let me know if you still see the issue still even after restarting.

I’m not sure if it works as intended but when I want to open extra places and the view is on place folders, the opened places show the folder of my game group instead of places.

Not quite sure I understand, are you seeing other assets/folders + places inside the Project > Places folder? Would you be able to send me a screenshot? (DM is okay too if preferred!)

Basically, I have that instead of empty, even if I open a baseplate in local :

And it stops lagging at the end of the loading
No more lags :
