Automatic server reboots disrupt AFK systems & product purchases

Recently, our game, has noticed an increase of reports that our AFK solution was failing to reconnect players as intended.

I watched this go down in real time as a server I was in, suddenly rebooted. Not only is this very jarring for a player to experience but unfortunately our AFK system activates on a timer due to some complications I had with with saving boat state. This obviously breaks during a reboot :frowning:
Additional note about complications in staff-only section

Server boosts that are very common in other fishing experiences, and, MMORPGs are also impacted. The vast majority of titles do not track remaining time for products designed to only exist within that session, us included.

The game had been updated about 2 hours prior but there no indicators of poor client/server performance. Probably worth noting there is a slight memory leak on the server but the overall performance is much better than other titles.

Extremely similar report to ours can be found here: Servers randomly kicking players due to "The server has shut down"

Players that were kicked from their old server but not properly relocated

Expected behavior

Servers should not automatically reboot & alert developers in the event of an internal failure or closure.

Sounds intentional, considering bypassing the AFK system is both against the rules and just a generally scummy thing to do

Following up again regarding this bug. Our game has nearly doubled in size since my original post, and, there is additional ways for users to earn server luck, making the server closures/reboots more detrimental to our experience.

Like most games, we do not record the remaining time or purchase of server luck. It exists purely for that session and is not meant to follow the purchaser around, if they were to hop servers. By allowing servers to randomly reboot, our users are effectively being scammed out of their purchase.

Yeah, I was experiencing this issue in your game. I thought it was just an issue on your end.
