Since September, my avatar thumbnail has consistently failed to render across all areas of the Roblox platform. Whether accessing my profile, avatar editor, or games where my avatar should appear, the thumbnail remains in a “pending” or blank state. This issue persists regardless of the browser, device, or network used. I have also tried to get rid of all accessories and avatar items so that it’s the default avatar and default thumbnail. It did not solve the problem.
Experiencing this as well. The classic shirt I’m currently wearing got deleted, and I’ve basically been waiting for my avatar’s thumbnail to load for half an hour.
This seems to be a site wide issue recently, I thought I was the only one but it is affecting a good amount of accounts. It seems that it began after the evil ducky was available for purchase
and it returns “State” : “Completed” along with “imageUrl” : “{url}”, then your avatar is fine and will at least load across the platform and games.
@kilobiting and I discovered that the thumbnail issue will cause games to break when the games it relies on using some thumbnail related things. List of games that will have some sort of glitches related to this problem that we have discovered.
Connections Finder: This game will break when you attempt to input and search player’s username that does not have a profile thumbnail.
The Ultimate Robloxian: This game will have the issue where after being teleported to the game server, the player will become "plrname" and then change to the actual player’s name, but then soon after will duplicate, making the player to appear 2 times.
Funeral Roleplay: This game, when being a “ghost of honor” in the coffin, the avatar will not load in the coffin and connections (friends) will also not appear on the seats. Usually, the player’s connections will appear in the audience seats.
Word Bomb: This game will initially appear with the avatar in a placeholder image, but then later will appear as blank due to the thumbnail does not exist.
Floors Have Teeth: This game will break in the game party where other players will see the player without the avatar thumbnail to appear multiple times. Which is not consistant, where it can appear repetitive number of times differently by each player. However, the player with the broken thumbnail will only appear one time normally on their end.
Additionally, the avatar will not load regardless of anything changes to the avatar, including removing all accessories, emotes, animations, reverting avatar changes back to default, switching between R6 and R15, reverting avatar scaling, reverting profile pose to default, and etc.
Had tested and experimented using both Roblox website and Roblox App
If I change to the first avatar, I will be stuck in pending state where only the avatar headshot loads and the full-body thumbnail does not, and if I change back to the second, it instantly completes with no issues
It does very rarely load instantly if I switch between 2 different clothing pieces, sometimes it doesn’t load at all and hits me with the n/a image placeholder.
I think this also applies to accessories. I just tried unequipping a face accessory and equipping a different one, and it seems to have rendered instantly. Can anyone else repro?
Edit: This seems to only apply to one thumbnail type at a time (i.e AvatarThumbnail, HeadShot, and AvatarBust)
