When attempting to validate an avatar body using the Avatar Setup tool in Roblox Studio, the Marketplace validation process fails without providing a unknown reason for the failure. Avatar Setup displays “1 Warning”, and opening the warning shows: “1 Warning found that will prevent you from uploading to Marketplace”
Under Validation Errors, the only information provided is: “Validation failed for an unknown reason. Please try again or open a bug report if this issue persists.”
I and other developers have been seeing this since September 30th, Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4). I tried re-rigging it with no success, and sometimes other characters will deal with this too
Reproduction Steps
- Open Roblox Studio.
- Import/open the affected avatar body.
- Open Avatar Setup.
- Allow Avatar Setup to process the character.
- Run Marketplace validation.
- Avatar Setup reports 1 Warning.
- Click See Details.
- Observe that Body Errors only reports “Validation failed for an unknown reason.”
- No specific failing body component or validation requirement is provided.
Expected behavior
If the avatar satisfies Marketplace requirements, validation should complete successfully. If validation fails, Avatar Setup should identify the specific body part, mesh, cage, attachment, rigging issue, bounds issue, or Marketplace validation requirement that caused the failure so the problem can be corrected.
