Bad teleport errors when you can’t visit age-restricted experiences

Currently, if you try to teleport to an experience that you can’t visit due to age restrictions, then the error message shown can be a bit weird.

This applies to:

  • Experiences with a content maturity rating of “Restricted” (17+ only)
  • Experiences with a content maturity rating of “Moderate” that include “Social Hangout” and/or “Free-form User Creation” in its content maturity descriptors (13+ only)

I don’t know if this applies anywhere else.

If you try to teleport to a “Restricted” experience, and you are 17+, but you are NOT ID-verified, then you’ll get this error:

First off, the message states that it is “not reviewed by UX” because it is not displayed to users, when it is literally being shown to the user. This feels like some internal comment that isn’t meant to be seen.

The second part of the message refers to the user as “it”, as in “user is 17 years or older but it is not verified”, which is a little confusing. It took me a while to figure out what “it” was referring to here.

If you try to teleport to an experience that includes “Social Hangout” and/or “Free-form User Creation” in its content maturity descriptors, and you are under 13, then you’ll get this error:

This message also includes the part about it “not reviewed by UX”. The rest of the message is fine.

Expected behavior

The part about the text not being “reviewed by UX” should be removed from the public-facing error message. The user also shouldn’t be referred to as “it”.

Your images are broken. Can you re-upload?

That’s weird. They should work now.
