Beam not visible at some angles

I noticed by beam I made looks good at side angles, but when you look at it facing the player, it starts to fade out (see images)

I noticed that when its set to “Stretch” the texture is visible for longer distance. How do I fix this without using the stretch texture mode

How high is the beam off the baseplate? Is it right at ground level and ‘disappearing’ into the baseplate?
