Beams have Randomly Broken Themselves

After logging in to studio today, I noticed that several of my beam instances have randomly broken and started behaving weird. I’m not entirely sure why this has occurred, but it’s kinda ruined a lot of my VFX and I haven’t been able to fix it. I’ve not made any changes to any of my beams, so I’m almost certain that this is an engine issue.

It’s happening to other games too.

System Info:

Intel Core Ultra 7 155H @ 3.3GHz
NVidia RTX 4070 Laptop GPU
32GB DDR5 SODIMM @ 5600MHz

Expected behavior

Expected Behavior: Beams don’t contort themselves into eldritch abominations.

What Actually Happens: err… this.

It isn’t just me though, this is also happening to other games:

update: managed to fix the black hole by setting the texture length to 1, but the other thing is still very broken. Still messing with properties to see if I can fix it myself.

I’m also experiencing this problem, but in my case beams with transparency seem to have become quite bright and now they blend together into one mess compared to before.

Thanks for pointing this out so quickly -and sorry for breaking your game. We isolated and flipped the flag off that we believe was causing this. Please advise if you see otherwise. Thanks!

EDIT: The fix seems to be rolling out now, just taking a while to update all the games.

Is this fix only applied to one game or every game? Our group has a model utilising beams in thousands of different games used by a lot of people, so applying this to just one game would not help the rest of the players on the platform.

I was still able to reproduce the problem when playing on my phone, so I’m not sure if it is device specific or not.

Tysm! I’ll take a look and make sure it didn’t also break the temporary solution I found. Thanks for your help!
