Becoming Guests after teleporting in a game

Apparently this bug is back, and is happening for more people. It doesn’t happen to me so I can’t really provide a repro. But basically for certain players, if they join a game like a lobby, and then teleport to a game from the lobby, they will join the game as a guest.

Is it possible for you to find out if they were on mobile and whether they were on iOS or Android? I recall this happening to me once while I was on my Android.

it’s on computers, mac or windows? not sure, but I think both. My game is not mobile friendly.

confirmed happens on Windows 7, but I’m sure it happens on other computers as well.

Another strange thing about this is the player turning into a guess will turn into the same guest every time, the same Id number

Baumz, just recently I have been trying to join any server and whenever I do, I join as a guest, specifically Guest 4008. Eric has also had this problem. Is there anything you can do? Should we reset? Please let me know. Thanks

but it does sound like for each guest problem people are being assigned the same guest ID, so that could help in fixing this issue.

no that won’t work. the Servers a apart of the universe. If I break the link, there will be no Sending in replays, no uploading games, no Stick Customizing, no Goal Songs. all Datastore stuff would be gone.

This is in need of a fix asap, I run a competitive league for my game, and these players can’t not play in games due to them becoming guests, as chatting with your team is a critical part of the game.

My RPG is going surprisingly well using universes however I’ve got hundreds of PMs reporting spawning as a guest. I can probably easily figure out what platform they were on.

I have the same issue with FNaF, where people teleport to the actual game from the lobby and they spawn as guests, or it wont even let them go at all. Most people can play, but a few people cannot because of this issue.

As a temporary possible fix, ask them to also login on Studio. I’ve noticed issues like this when logged into two separate accounts using Chrome and Studio. When teleporting, it seems the studio login will sometimes override.

This happens to me and it started at the same time as this bug:

Probably a side effect of roblox not being able to authenticate you’re actually the player for some odd reason…

Just to get rid of the myth…it’s a PC issue. Not mobile as far as people have told me.

Posted it here: Documentation - Roblox Creator Hub
It’s Internet Explorer’s fault…
Something is causing internet explorer to not support https:// pages which in turn causes roblox to not work…

In IE open Tools
Scroll down to Internet Options
Go to the Advanced Tab

External Media

Click the “Reset…” button and it should work again!
Will tell a few people who have this bug to try this, see what happens.

EDIT:
So far we have one happier soul out there. it worked for him so I assume it will work for others.

I can’t tell all of my fans to do that. I’d need a customer service team larger than Microsoft to teach them all how to do that.

Apparently this happens when using a non-IE browser as well (Google Chrome).

For a feature that Roblox has pushed so much (also a vital part of “Games”), is this being sorted out? My game’s basic functionality relies on teleport service as do many others.

Just though I would bump this thread as this issue is still happening.

Also the mentioned fix for it doesn’t work for all. A user who has an Asus Laptop is still becoming a guest after Teleporting from the Lobby in my Game, even though he reseted his Web browser.

Also I mentioned this to David Baszucki at RDC West so bumping this to help you guys get a jump on this ;).

I ran into this issue a few times myself, I found logging out of studio and logging back in fixes it.

I still get around 1 PM a day about someone having this issue. It’s not hard to tell one person a day, but it adds up.

Can this please be made a higher priority? I’m doing my best to reply to messages regarding this, but with 1600 people playing within 10 hours of release it’s too difficult.

I’m afraid I’ll get banned for telling users to log in somewhere, so I’ve been saying sign in.

Are other devs still getting messages like this?
I responded with a temporary fix toshir0z posted and will update if it works.

Nope cuz he’s on mac…
