Best approach for varying object reference length

Scenario
Suppose we have game.Workspace and inside the workspace is a series of nested folders and scripts

Game
|_workspace
…|_a
… …|_c
…|_b
… …|_d

how could we go about accessing these folders/scrips by using a single string to reference them. Where a string (workspace/a) would point to game.Workspace.a but (workspace/a/c) points to game.Workspace.b?

I’m a little confused, could I ask why you would use “workspace/a/c” to reference game.Workspace.b and not “workspace/b”? Wouldn’t “workspace/a/c” point to game.Workspace.a.c?

I’ve come up with a solution and I will post it here when I have a chance.
