I have a new simulator I am looking to release soon and I am wondering what’s the best way to spend the advertising budget? When I tested out the icon we have it got ~2.85% CTR on sponsorships and the skyscraper ad got ~0.14% CTR. Wondering if I should be running a relatively small amount for a long period of time or a large amount for a few days? Some advise with sponsors vs ads and how much to run for how long would be greatly apricated. I have influencers planned already, but wondering about the Roblox side.
Depends how many players you want.
With a budge of 3 million, I would start off with 100,000-200,000 per day for the first week, this way you can grow the player base fast and get those initial players.
Then for the second week, I would cut it down to about 50,000-100,000 daily. This way, you still attract players, but now you have returning players, so you don’t need to bring in as many through ads to reach the same concurrent amount.
After the second week, it’s up to you, but I’d suggest 30,000-50,000 daily and make minor adjustments (+/- 10,000) to your fitting.
As far as ads vs sponsorships, use whichever works for your game. I’ve heard different opinions about both. I believe the banner style is better than the skyscraper for ads, as it is seen more by the player when they go to click “Discover, Marketplace, Create, Robux.” However I have not managed ads in a good few years, so I would double check with others that this is still the better option.
ps. run advertisements a few days (preferably a week) before any influencers join. This way the game is already established with players, which looks good to the influencer’s audience.
Thank you for the great information! How many CCUs do you think that will get on average?
Depends on the advertising material.
Yeah it does depend on the advertising material.
This means nothing, because, once again, no info on platform and audience targetting and if you have no clue about targetting, better start slow. Targetting multiple platforms, in the same sponsorship is a bit of a mistake, since who knows how impressions are distributed and you get “scrambled” results. For a mobile icon that CTR is okay (once again, depending on age and gender targets), for PC or console - impossible (PC CTR is 50-100 times lower).
I wouldn’t recommend User Ads for game ads, unless you have robux to burn, but looking at my own tests, 0.14% sounds a bit low. The best I got was ~0.35%.
Not sure why people are only mentioning advertising materials, because while those impact how many people will come to the game, CCU will grow (or fall) depending on how addictive (playtime, retention) your game is.
