@MeshOfPaul someone that works for us has the new Studio UI on their macbook.
The problem is that the entire “File/Edit/View/Plugins/Test/Window/Help” section is missing, which is a big problem, since it has lots of important windows & options
On the MacBook:
How it looks like on Windows:
Could this be fixed? It’s tampering with their workflow. They also can’t really revert the beta as easily, as it’s under File > Beta Features
I’m wondering if its full screen and hidden, they just need to mouse over the top. This is 100% mac system menu, so it follows the same norms of every other app on mac, no differences. If that’s not the case would love to hear more.
The Menubar should just be in the window’s title bar so it takes up less space on Windows like it already does on MacOS.
With the title bar having the following format (im too lazy to make an image): [File] [Edit] [View] [Plugins] [Test] [Window] [Help] [Studio Icon & Place Name] [Minimize, Fill Screen, Close]
Why not have contextual right clicks? Like if I right click on the create part button it’d be nice to see a context menu that has the list of parts I can make, followed by a divider to separate the parts from customization options.
Also Show labels, and Compact toolbar could be moved into a ribbon section in studio settings, or a icon in the tab bar.
With Collapse getting its own dedicated button, perhaps an arrow next to the visualization modes button
Yes we agree. Unfortunately, it’s just not a trivial change with the current Studio main window code. Our design team also has a couple of other interesting ideas around this as well.
We have a much improved button design that makes the drop down much easier to trigger with a quick click. Hoping it goes live within the next day or so.
But even then I think it would be cool to support right click too. But mixing the custom tab controls with the drop down options would be messy. I’d rather we establish a nicer UX for the custom tab editing which would free up right click again.
New dropdown button design is rolling out right now. You can see we have a much larger hit area for triggering the dropdown. No long press is required. Let us know what you think…
The hit area is better, but that… looks ugly. It should be placed below the button, rather than next to it.
Or maybe you guys can merge it with the main button itself, so the entire background looks like one large button.
This looks really good in my opinion and is definitely much easier to use.
I noticed that clicking the arrow while the dropdown is already open doesn’t close it as intended for the “Material” button specifically.
It closes for a second but then opens again immediately.
I prefer the corner gradient design because it looked nicer but I’m happy with how easy it is to hit now. I still wish we could long press and move my cursor down to select like Blender though.
Looks like the new dropdowns may have caused this particular layout of icons to look broken?
I’m using the tabs from this post but only started using them recently, so we’ll have to see if people who have been using it longer report the same issue.
Yeah I might have to move the Lock to the next column if this is the final design . Why did the team suddenly decide to make the text visible on this button type?
Icons on various Studio elements like the ribbon and the explorer also look quite blurry or in low resolution. I believe that they could look a lot better and more vibrant.
