Thanks for the feedback! We’ll take this into account and work towards making it faster to navigate assets for sure.
For now, you can indeed choose between the legacy and new Asset Manager, by going to File → Beta Features and disabling the “Revamped Asset Manager” beta feature. That should return you to using the legacy Asset Manager!
This is a huge improvement from the previous asset manager, I can finally see everything the group/game has uploaded.
I have only one issue with it, when I use Copy Asset ID the string does not get copied with the rbxassetid://{id} and instead I have to enter rbxassetid:// manually when copy pasting. Would it be possible to bring this feature back or maybe have a toggle somewhere to switch between the two Copy Asset ID options?
It loads so many parts and images from single model . I choose to add only meshparts by selecting each one but when loaded, always some part missing and if i load again , it’s different part missing . Sure i can just load missing part but then i need to adjust it into position , which is time consuming and not neccesary. Or i am doing something wrong .
I’m unable to use the import when I open a local .rbxl and then publish. The import button is only enabled if I open Studio from the Roblox website directly.
packages controller translated to robloxs langouge ehm why this wierd langouge apear in all new things from studio hapens when input focused to rename a place
I just experimented with the asset manager, and my biggest complaint is not being able to have access to a search menu while the sidebar is closed. I have my asset manager docked on the left of my screen and really like the convenience of being able to search directly from the list of items. The new layout feels a bit more bulkier than it should. If the user/group’s name displayed gets removed it could create a lot more room for the search bar.
Current asset manager:
Maybe add a search bar in this menu like in the original.
Another place is a section under here that allows for searching
When you do search, you have no ability to change your search results without opening up the side tab.
I can’t even efficiently bulk import my assets… The new asset manager quite literally ruins a lot of 3D artists’ workflows. So many unneeded extra steps. While trying to improve minor issues, you guys ended up making something that is proven to work break.
I have tried to import a model (OBJ file) through the asset manager… but it says I need to publish the experience - which I have done several times - but to no avail.
Thanks for the continued feedback y’all! While I’m not replying as actively these days, I am still monitoring this thread, so keep the feedback and reports coming. They’re greatly appreciated
@TQNY2@Atrazine this might be a bug, we’ll investigate this and hope to have a fix soon!
@Hiddenology thanks for the feedback! We’re aware that there’s added friction now to importing and using newly imported assets. We’re going to look at improving that process in the coming weeks.
@NKM9 thanks for the feedback on the UI layout! I will forward this to our design team
While this is good looking forward, it is absolutely catastrophic for people who’ve been using the Legacy Asset Manager for months/years. All of my assets (mostly talking about textures here, Sounds and Models SEEM to be fine) are renamed to their filename or “Texture” and are no longer associated with the Experience they were created in (they don’t appear in the “Shared with Experience” tab), so they get lumped in with all the other clutter in my personal or group inventory (shirt/pants images, thumbnails, icons and all the other games).
Please consider creating a layer of compatibility that retains aliases or at least converts them into names on the website! Please also look into decals no longer associating with the Experience they were created in!
This is actually worse than I thought. Decals/textures are no longer associated with the Experience, even if you upload them again. They get put on your group/personal inventory and are told: “good luck finding it inside that cluster of assets from 4 different games!”
I really really really hope to see this addressed soon. It’s such a downgrade from the Legacy Asset Manager that I can no longer justify using the revamped beta until this is addressed or fixed.
Working between different projects with different ownership is a bit tedious since I have to switch to that place or group’s category to copy the ID of an asset I upload. The old Asset Manager simply showed recently uploaded assets with no fiddling required. On top of that, it still requires the user to be in a published place in order to upload assets.
It’s also annoying to have the Asset Manager always be located in front of the Explorer, instead of staying where I arrange it (I prefer having the Explorer all the way to the left and have the asset manager be behind it).
Otherwise, I don’t have too many issues with it. The UI design seems fine for the most part.
