Blender Help! (bad explanation)

Please forgive me if you don’t understand, (I am terrible at explaining).
How do you put multiple shapes into blender??? I can only figure out how to put cubes in.
I also dont know how to properly stack things on each other if one is wider then the other

You can add multiple meshes using shift + a

to make sure everything is aligned click the magnet icon here

then select vertex

this allows you to align different vertices (the little dots), you just have to hover over them.
