Recently, I noticed that the avatar shop doesn’t have that many dedicated hats for blockheads, and being blockheads are my favorite head shape, I decided to change that. My first item(s) in my line of blockhead hats is a smooth, cubical top hat! It’s in the same style as the regular banded tophats, just made for blockheads. I spent a decent amount of time figuring out the best way to texture them and then remodeling them to get a better, smoother look.
I’m happy with their final turn out and will probably design a few more custom textures for fun (for reference, the one in the top left corner and the two with a gradient on the bottom right corner are custom )
These hats actually look very good. I’d love to see these in the catalog. I mainly like the 2 with the gradients on them. They resemble the original banded top hats though, so you might wanna create some more that don’t looks so similar. I don’t know, that’s my honest opinion and one day I would love to buy some.
Thank you, I really appreciate it! I only used the designs of the original banded top hats because I didn’t really have a texture concept in mind, so I recreated what was already there. I do plan on making some more original designs for them, but I’m not sure if they’d ever make it into the avatar shop because I’m not in the UGC program yet, maybe one day though!
I love how they look but as @crazygamerjoe said, they probably look too similar to the Banded Top Hat series to be approved. If they were approved, chances are they’d go offsale due to peoples’ complaints. Perhaps you could create your own colour schemes for them?
I think this would be a really cool item to be implemented into a game though!
Thank you! I don’t plan on getting them into the Avatar Shop as I’m not a UGC creator, but if I ever did get into the program, then I’d most likely put some on sale in the shop, but it’d ones with designs I created my self (sadly, not the designs of the original banded top hats).
Yup, I wouldn’t just take a design that isn’t my own original concept, and even if I had approval to I still wouldn’t for this case because some of these would be normally unobtainable for the average player (i.e: the white banded red top hat because that’s only given to developers whose games are a part of Roblox events – to my knowledge at least).
I will most likely create a simple homestore-like game that has my hats or any other clothing-related item in it just to display and for people to try on.
Yeah I will most likely include my best models on my portfolio, but being I’m primarily a developer and scripter I’d have most of my portfolio dedicated to that. But, I also mainly do modelling for games so they kind of tie in.
