Here’s some insight:

The only value of transparency (local or not) that’s faster than 0 is 1. Everything in between is slow and should only be used if ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. 10k static non-transparent parts are really quick to render. 10k static transparent parts can easily grind performance to a halt.
Also don’t switch between 0 and 1 too often if you can avoid it.

So the parts will have a less impact on performance than if they were to be non-transparent, but they still have a little performance impact obviously because these parts still exist in the game, and as you mention physics are calculated for them. They’re just not rendered then.

Fully transparent parts render faster because you don’t have to render them at all - they’re invisible.
