I’m able to give likes to a post but unable to remove them. I haven’t a clue when this started happening. The browser I’m using is Microsoft Edge.
Try a different browser like Chrome or Safari. I’m using Chrome and I just liked and unliked this thread as a test and it works.
Probably caused by the new like button update (if if you haven’t noticed, it’s different now).
This is a feature of the Discourse forum where if you like something you can’t unlike it after 10 minutes.
What Petey said - you can’t unlike a post after 10 minutes, unfortunately.
Seems like a double edged sword. If the user edits the post, I should be able to unlike it if I don’t agree with the updated content.
Interestingly enough, despite more than 10 minutes elapsing, I still find myself unable to remove my likes from posts.
This gives me a great idea on how to screw people over…
under 10 minutes
Whoops.
oh this is going to get abused like crazy
seriously tho, who thought this was a good idea
It’s been like this for a long long time. It’s already been possible to abuse but I’ve yet to see someone do it. In the case that it does happen thoygh, you can always flag the post.
I tried it’s working fine with me
Oh it’s been abused alright
We should conduct a study to see how lower the average like count per day is lol
Necrobump. I’m often guilty of skimming threads to get the gist of an idea, and then liking it if it seems valuable to me. As a result, I sometimes miss a small but major component of the post that can ruin my reason for liking it in the first place. I would rather not be shown as supporting flawed or disagreeable material-if this limitation could be removed, or increased to a couple days before locking, that would be great.
Please redirect further talk about this to the Discourse Meta Forums.
This seems to be a setting that Dev Rel can change, " post undo action window mins
".
