Built a Roblox game recommender - need your feedback

I built a Roblox recommendation system because the default ‘Recommended For You’ tab only shows sponsored games. My game instead shows games based on what you like, not how much Robux/money developers put into ads. I’d love your feedback on whether the recommendations seem accurate. An example of the default recommendations would be the image below.

Sure, there’s also a “Today’s picks” tab on the Roblox homepage, but those aren’t necessarily personalized in my opinion.

Here’s the game link, and I’d love to hear your feedback on these things. And it should typically take around a minute or two to test the “game” out:

  • Does the recommendation system seem accurate after you try the game/pass feature?
  • How’s the UI? Any suggestions for making it better?
Would you prefer the recommendations tab to be more diverse or more focused? (This won’t affect the game/pass feature)

Def more focused, I am more interested to play a more casual/fps than lets say an RNG game.

literally all grey. i admit doing the same thing but cmon more colours pls.

I am also the last person on earth that plays games on a non-widescreen monitor. The player icons just look oval shaped. Even people with an ultrawide sees an oval shaped icon. Maybe add a UIAspectConstraint to those player icons and set the aspect ratio to 1 (for a squared UI)

With the empty void background I bet having something moving or even just a parallax image as the background would have a better impact in the overall UI too. Check out my example for a small project I was doing a while back, I added a nice animated background which moves with the mouse cursor.

Yeah, I agree with you but I had no idea what pattern/color to use when I made the UI so I just used all grey. But I’ll make it so the user can choose the pattern/color they want.

And that’s why I’m testing to see if everything works for everyone.

Based on the poll I made, that’ll be the case although I’m not quite on how focused it should be. Actually, as of writing this, I think I’ll make it 4x more focused and let the user adjust it if it’s too focused or too diverse.

Yet again, thank you for the feedback and I will likely implement your suggestions/feedback in a week or two, I’ll reply to the thread if it happens.

And after a bit, I’ve made some changes to the “game”:

Customization

  • You can now change the color and the image of the background (although the color selector isn’t the best right now, but it’ll do the job).
  • Default background has changed from gray to medium dark blue to correspond with our thumbnail.

Recommendation Algorithm

  • The recommendation tab is more focused, while the game or pass feature is more diverse.
  • The algorithm should generally be more accurate.

And finally, I’ve added a new tab called “Favorites / Liked Games”.

This section shows the games you’ve joined or the games you “gamed” using the Game or Pass feature on RoGames, as well as the ones you’ve favorited on Roblox. I’d love to hear your feedback on these new changes, especially the new recommendation algorithm.
