"Bulletin Board" continually set to watching

I’m having a strange issue with the forum regarding the “Bulletin Board” section that is really starting to piss me off. Over the past week, I’ve been continually getting notifications for every single new thread posted in Bulletin Board. Despite me setting the entire board to “muted” every day, the next day it will be set back to “watching”. This bug is incredibly annoying and I would really appreciate some help with it.

Again, every day I set the category to “muted” only to find it set to “watching” the very next day. Rinse and repeat. (It actually just happened again as I’m typing this.)

I’ve encountered the same issue with other topics. It hasn’t occurred in 2 days though.

This is not a bug with Bulletin Board, it’s because of the intercept mechanism we implemented for post approval. It detects when posts are made in certain categories and redirects them to Bulletin Board and signals us in our inbox, but unfortunately in some cases it doesn’t seem to withhold the notification from people watching the category.

If I had to take a guess, you are probably watching the Cool Creations category and this is why that happens. It also happens for feature request and bug report categories, but those are less frequently used so it wouldn’t be as noticeable.

This is the same issue as discussed here and we are already aware of it:

I was not aware of an intercept mechanism, so thank you for explaining it. However, this does not explain why my actual notification configuration for the Bulletin Board is continually set to “watching” (at least I’m pretty sure it doesn’t).

(This is what is constantly being set to watching – for the entire category)

I’d understand it if I was merely getting notifications for topics that were moved, but my actual configuration for the category is being changed somehow.

That doesn’t really make sense to me, but if you figure out more details on how it might happen let us know here, then we can check it out.

We resolved this a couple of days ago
