Hello, I’m new here and I’d like to ask is it okay to make a religious-themed game? Because I want to use the Seven Trumpets from Revelation as a concept to make a survive game. I know this sounds weird, but I’d like to give it a try. I just want to make sure that this theme is allowed on Roblox, because it’s pretty rare to see these kinds of game on Roblox.
Yes
I have to make this post longer because a simple answer does not satisfy the DevForum
Of course, a good number of games already use religious themes, although not too on the nose.
The only backlash you’d receive is from people, since, it should be expected that there will always be people who despise when games use their religion as a game-mechanic or anything else (although they’re hard to come by on roblox, and are ever only present on booth games with vc), but there’s not much that can be done regarding that.
If you’re just loosely inspired by it, then I see no issue.
If you’re heavily inspired to the point where you re-enact the verses word for word, only to change one detail like the 7 angels, instead into 7 femboy furries or the like, then keep in mind to ‘be respectful’. Of course, nothing inherently ‘wrong’ in doing this… But… A lot would find it distasteful.
Hey, thanks for the reply! It’s been a while, and I’ve been meaning to ask you something if you’re totally fine with it.
As I mentioned earlier, the game has a religious theme. What I didn’t mention is that it’s not just loosely inspired, it includes characters like angels, fallen angels, and a “redeemer.” That said, I’m being careful not to include direct religious references or anything offensive (definitely no femboy furries, haha).
To show respect for the concept, I’m also avoiding any monetized dev products or gamepasses.
Do you think this still falls within what you’d consider respectful? I’d really appreciate your thoughts.
I mean, you can add gamepasses, it’s good to get paid off your work, to further enhance your current or future projects.
The Binding of Isaac, which is a paid game with a bunch of paid DLC, takes a lot from the bible, a good portion of characters with a real name (obviously not keeper, blue baby, lost or forgotten) and items are based off biblical stories in some way. Most people got no issue with it. Yes, it isn’t roblox, but it got away with a lot of silly depictions, and honestly, you can get away with it too.
I personally as a Christian, find the concept you’re going for cool! And encourage you to go through with it. But, I’m one person and do not represent the religion, so, like I’ve mentioned before not everyone will be a fan, that’s just how the world goes.
Games are games, you play them to have fun, do what you will to make yours fun! But of course, also beneficial for yourself.
