Can SurfaceAppearance Textures be changed through scripts?

I was trying to include tire textures that would change based on an upgrade, but apparently once I finally playtest, the script fails because server scripts have a permission level lower than ColorMap.

Is there any way to bypass that permission level or am I just stuck without the ability to swap SurfaceAppearance textures with scripts?

I just did a workaround where I instead parent the surfaceappearance texture from a folder into the car’s tires. Does that mean it still had to go through the “pre-processing”? I didn’t see a performance impact yet.
