Can you tell us member promotion requirments?

Hi,
can you tell me what i need to be promoted to member (or reason why you cant tell me it), because i dont see any reason why not.

Authorities (community sages and post approval) are not willing to disclose exact prerequisites to a potential promotion. Don’t only focus on promoting; contribute to the community meaningfully and it’ll naturally come.

Why not? Because everyone would only be doing stuff to get them promoted to Member. I think it’s good, that they don’t tell everybody.

Ok, so it will be good to give new members read permission on off-topic, because i have some questions to this topic (and it is biggest reason why i want to get promoted), but i dont know if they are already asked and solved, so i think, that read permission can be everywhere.

Q: What is the specific criteria for automated promotion to Member?
A: We will not be stating the exact numbers or criteria needed to receive the Member role automatically as we don’t want to encourage any attempts at gaming the system.

If you’d like, you can contact a Community Sage to see your progress to getting member.

You can do that? Sages would probably be annoyed if people keep asking them just for progress…

The new member/member buffer exists so users can be integrated into the community over time. It teaches them how to effectively use the forum and the features available, contribute meaningful content, and helps maintain the forums integrity (new users can’t immediately go from having no experience posting at all to posting in every category).

Specific requirements aren’t public because it encourages unwanted user behaviour, mainly attempts to game the system for malicious purposes or generating a lot of unnatural noise because users are attempting to meet the requirements. This destroys the whole purpose of the learning buffer I mentioned above.

There’s no definitive public requirements currently, therefore there’s no specific point users know they have to reach. It’s hard to game a system you know nothing about and extra noise isn’t generated trying to meet them. Users can only meet them over time through legitimate use.

Post meaningful content, demonstrate you can effectively use the features provided (such as post approval to show you can use #platform-feedback appropriately), and be consistent. Progression is automatic unless you have a bad moderation history, so when you reach the requirements you’ll get the trust level.

This is requirement that I am most interested in, bec I have really bad moderation history (most for off-topic post), so with this, do you mean flags or bans (that I don’t have)?

I can’t give specifics (because I don’t know them), but having a lengthy history of strikes, feedback messages, approved flags against you, and topics removed by forum staff may affect your eligibility for automatic promotion.
