Cannot change username

I want to change my username due to dysphoria.

I cannot change it due to an error on the app, and an inability to access on the website.

I have waited a few minutes, I have refreshed the page, I have reloaded the app, and I have made sure I have sufficient funds.
For the website not loading the tab, I made sure the only plugins I have that may affect the website (uBlock and RoSeal) are not causing it.

Expected behavior

The website page should load and let me change my username.

The app should allow me to change my username, accept the change, and deduct funds.

We recently launched some protections on settings-related changes that effectively disable extension usage anywhere within Account Settings. While from metrics things look from good on our end, there are always potential false positives. Do you think you could fully disable all of your chrome extensions and try again?

To be clear, I use Firefox, which has some features certain websites may consider plugins.

I still have not been able to change my username, but now the username I wanted has been taken.

I have also just disabled all my extensions and the website bit does not work.

Hmm, I just tried on a bunch of new & old accounts with the following setups without much success in reproducing:

  • Windows app
  • Mac app
  • Firefox
  • Chrome
  • Safari

Do you think you could keep extensions disabled + do a hard refresh of your browser (& possibly clear cookies / browsing data + re-login)? Sometimes browsers keep old code cached in your browser and it could be that there’s some incompatibility there.

I have downloaded Roblox on my phone and performed the username change there. I would have appreciated if Roblox support had been as helpful as Steam is with cases like doing things by hand until a problem is found, but alas, I will have to deal with not having the username I wanted due to it taking so long.

You could have checked the console tab (CTRL + SHIFT + I) or network tab to check and determine what was erroring…
