Can't decide on what era I want to do for my game

Hey,

I love worldbuilding and everything that comes with it. My favorite eras (time periods) are anything from World War 2 to near future. I cannot decide what era I want to do.

Future has so many different possibilities and I am a sucker for modern military combat. However, as someone who plays War Thunder I sometimes get that itch of “world war 2 has such cool combat, I love the propeller planes”.

If I try to do ww2 I feel like I’m lacking more depth. Also known as; I want to have fighter jets and orbital lasers but ww2 only has propellers and guns. I’ve tried to mix both eras but it ends up being a mouthful of trying to explain to people, and it’s just confusing in my opinion.

Along with this, sometimes I’ll play a new game or see a new movie and have the urge to make something about the same scenario. Because of this, I end up giving up on so many of my projects. I try to combat this by changing the scope of my current project, and you can guess how that plays out.

Basically; I have commitment issues.

If anyone has any tips on what I can do to mitigate this, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Just throwing this out there, feel free to use this if you like it.

what if you made an entirely new design for your game? I could see a futuristic game with “future-ified” ww2 weapons and vehicles doing super well in that side of the community

Sounds like you can do a Wolfenstein thing.

For future reference, I know it’s possible to blend eras.

My purpose of making this is to ask for tips on how I can prevent project hopping.

Sorry for not clarifying.
